This short story was submitted to us by Featured Author Burke Bourne, a Dystopian Wars gamer who was clearly inspired to create this entertaining story. We hope you enjoy reading his work as much as we did: June 14th, 1871. West of the Bay of Biscay Volker peered through a break in the clouds, hoping for a glance of the island. They must have still been too far off as all he saw was the endless blue of the sea. He shifted uncomfortably. They had been flying for almost two hours now, and his legs had begun to cramp. He regretted not stretching out before climbing into his Falke dive...

The Hunt (Part 2 of 2)

With another deafening screech the metal beast rose from out of the sea, drawing itself up menacingly just to starboard. A massive swell rolled under the two combatants, lifting first the American vessel so that it hung just above the Ika, then plunging it back down, so that the beast cast its shadow over the deck, its dripping tentacles hovering just above the scrambling sailors. This short story was submitted to us by Featured Author Samuel Bevan, a Dystopian Wars gamer who was clearly inspired to create this entertaining story. We hope you enjoy reading his work as much as we did: The spray lashed against the prow of the cruiser, whipping salt and icy fragments over the huddled crew members as they stumbled over the heaving deck. The brooding cloud cover, the driving rain and the booming of the thunder dampened the steady rumble of the engine as Captain Worthing scanned the horizon uselessly with his imagifier. The bronze gears whirred on the handheld device as he...

The Kingdom frigates, led by the HMS Dagger, had disappeared into the maelstrom. Around the island they went, out of sight and into the jaws of hell. Their frantic telegraphers spoke of constant bombardment and enemies pressing from all sides. Through their hurried messages they revealed the depth of the carnage inflicted on the proud Kingdom cruisers, but they also relayed confirmation that their foes, indeed the Prussians, had sustained their own losses. And then all the transmissions went silent. The distant retort of the cannonades never ceased. Aboard the Iron Duke all the officers and...

This short story was submitted to us by Luke Farren, a Dystopian Wars gamer who was clearly inspired to create this entertaining story about his Kingdom of Britannia force. We hope you enjoy reading his work as much as we did: Even the glare of the midday sun couldn’t penetrate the thick, all-obscuring banks of fog as the Kingdom of Britannia fleet patrolled the Norwegian coast. In late autumn, with winter beckoning, the grey fog rolled in from the sea and clung to the shoreline, enshrouding every hint of a landmark. It made the bleak, icy North Sea even more barren. Each of the slate-grey...
