Works Raptor

In 3625 three massive Mega-Corporations located within the Outer Reach negotiated with the powers of Terra for their freedom. The corporate entities of Hark Williams, Melcon and Works Raptor stood as equals when they crafted the agreements that created The Directorate and assured their independence. For decades afterward these three organisations formed the backbone of the most technologically advanced faction in known space.

But power is fleeting in the cut-throat world of galactic business. Hark Williams and Melcon continued to develop and grow with diversified holdings and concerns. Works Raptor however focused single-mindedly on offensive technologies in both the biological and mechanical fields. The chairman of Works Raptor, Lorenzo Thurn, became obsessed with the quest to create the most effective weapons that could be crafted. Soon profit margins and sustainable growth were forgotten in favor of fast, brutal results.

The first product of this single-minded enterprise was deployed under the designation Special Forces. The result of harsh hyper-growth and unconscionable genetic manipulation, the bio-construct warriors of the Works Raptor Special Forces rendered their corporate warships lethal in boarding actions. In addition to the natural power of these physically altered terror troops, noxious concoctions of chemical enhancers were used to drive them into a killing frenzy. The genetic cast-offs of this program, adjudged too slow or insufficiently savage, were incorporated into other Directorate programs, supplying the bio-construct troops for most Directorate and Dindrenzi assault units.

Hark Williams and Melcon did not try to dissuade their partner from this single-minded path, but rather manipulated them further down with joint projects and special assignments. When the Directorate felt the need to chastise a vassal planet or terrorise potential enemies into inaction and indecision they called upon Works Raptor. Designer viruses and mutated biological agents crafted into lethal re-entry vehicles allowed entire planetary populations to be decimated in a single attack. It was Works Raptor who first managed to impregnate the Directorate's plasma ammunition with microcapsules of tailored toxins and contagions.

Works Raptor’s experience as the covert military arm of the Directorate became more evident even as its financial holdings withered. The target for these attacks, both in controlled tests and active deployment, were most often outlying planets owned by the Aquan and Sorylians. These attacks are often attributed as the chief cause of the Xenos Wars, and often brought these corporate forces into contention against the Terquai defending the border. Conducting raids upon alien colonies for the purpose of acquiring test subjects, the forces of Works Raptor came to be recognised and hated throughout the Aquan Sebrutan and the Sorylian Collective. Several skirmishes also occurred with the clans of the Ba'Kash in the Raider Sectors that abut the Collective.

By the initiation of hostilities within the Storm Zone, Works Raptor had become all but a subsidiary division within the Directorate. In keeping with their growing role as stealth specialists and terror troops, their research had focused on stealth system technology and advanced scouting and surveillance equipment. Eager to recover some of their lost prestige, the ships and troops of Works Raptor have been deployed throughout Directorate Space, the Dindrenzi Federation and at the forefront of battle within the Storm Zone itself, attempting to establish it as an independent entity within the Zenian League.
