Alliance of Kurak

The Shan Kuo Fan Systems lie to the galactic west of the Aquan Sebrutan. In the earliest days of human rimward expansion several human colonies were established within these systems, unaware they were violating Aquan territory. During the War of First Contact these humans fought valiantly to defend the planets they had come to call home, but were soundly defeated by the sheer numbers the Aquan could bring to bear. At the end of the war most colonists were repatriated to stabilise the border between the Terran Satellite Charter and the Sebrutan, but many chose to remain and became subjects of the Prime.

These colonists named themselves the Terquai, after a colonial military leader. Embracing their adopted homeland wholeheartedly, the Terquai have since taken an active role in Sebrutan politics while maintaining excellent relations with the Terran Alliance. Culturally the Terquai have adopted many of the attributes of their alien leaders, putting far more emphasis on environmental conservation and sustainable planetary growth. On a spiritual level these former colonists place a great deal of importance upon a calm philosophical reserve and establishing peace with one’s surroundings.

Combining Aquan ship design with Terran technology, the Terquai have come to provide many vessels to defend their new home. Built around versatile weapons deployment systems that allow for the full power of both broadsides to be brought to bear in either arc, formations of Terquai ships of war are now commonly seen patrolling the boarders of the Sebrutan as well as being deployed within larger Aquan armadas. Having noted the displeasure Aquan take in personal combat, the Terquai have made it a point to focus on this aspect of warfare in their training. Often an Aquan admiral will select several Terquai vessels to accompany his command to provide security and defence against enemy boarding parties.

Many of the Terquai allies within the Terran Satellite Charter were among the most strident supporters of Anton Kurak as he attempted to create an alliance to defend against Dindrenzi aggression. Using their influence within the Sebrutan the Terquai did all they could to persuade the rulers of their new home, as well as neighbouring The Tarakian Lords, to listen to Kurak. In an attempt to prove to their hosts the danger of the Dindrenzi and their allies, Terquai patrol units requested they be assigned to the easternmost borders with the newly-created Federation. Many frontier colonies along this border had been savaged by covert raids for decades, and all attempts to follow the attackers had been halted by the Dindrenzi at the border. The Terquai knew that, should they provide proof of Dindrenzi involvement in these attacks, the Aquans would have no choice but to join the alliance.

With the help of clandestine specialists from the Hawker Federation the Terquai stopped several incoming attacks, shattering the invading fleets and pursuing them right to the border. Although conclusive proof was never secured, the circumstantial evidence of Directorate corporate partner Works Raptor’s involvement in these attacks was enough to convince the Aquans to join the alliance. Terquai vessels are proud to accompany their Aquans partners both on the front lines and on continued patrols in their home systems.
