Dragon Lord LogoINTRODUCTION
During the first few years of exploration in the Uncharted Seas, or the Broad Blue as the Dwarves named it, the Old World races faced little opposition from any true enemy other than themselves. Their massive fleets arrived and colonisation of the lands began, treaties with indigenous races were signed and those that rejected the newcomers swiftly felt the cold steel of a blade. But to the West was an altogether more dangerous foe, an ancient race of warriors known as the Dragon Lords.

Legends about this race run deep within the histories of all the Old World races. Some believe the Dragon Lords to be the first born Elf lords who dominated the younger races of the Old World for thousands of years, their reign only ending when the Elves fought amongst themselves and cast out the vilest of their own kind. Others believe them to be immortal, with claims that the Dragon Lords are themselves the reincarnated souls of the long dead dragons that first walked the world.

Magic is deep rooted within the heart of the Dragon Lord race and as a result of this their projectile weaponry is made even more deadly. Dragon Lords are a fierce fighting force and in battle their hearts are filled with a darkness that consumes their foes. With the arrival of the Old World races in their dominion, the Dragon Lords have mobilised for war, hell bent on pushing the ‘invaders’ out of their lands

LOCATION
The Dragon Lords rule the eastern regions with a light hand, having proved in previous conflicts that any dissent by their subjects would be dealt with harshly. Their fleets usually tour the Broad Blue seas every year to collect tribute and enforce their decrees, but lately their fleets have remained near their own cities in Principia, Gorvania, Sorylia and Ossiria.

The Dragon Lords have been occupied with repeated attacks on their fleets in the last decade by the Northern Vosk and the Bone Griffins, which has delayed the collection of tribute. Their attention has slipped from the eastern regions allowing large numbers of Humans, Dwarves, Orcs and Elves to arrive in their lands, building towns and fortresses, established governments, and growing strong from the resources that are, in the minds of the Dragon Lords, their property.

As a race the Dragon Lords are made up of four Great Houses, each of which is led by a Great Lord that rules over one of the four provinces of Kalath, Melkharn, Traal and Morgloth. These Houses are self sufficient kingdoms in their own right that jockey for power, and occasionally elect a High Lord to rule all four Houses – this is normally in time of Great War. The growing power of the Old World adventurers has impacted Dragon Lord authority, yet their subjects are still in awe of their rulers.

The first direct contact that the Old World adventurers had with the Dragon Lords was between the House Tepes family of the Imperial Navy. An Imperial Expeditionary Fleet of twelve ships sailed off the north coast of Arbon under the command of Ousmanri Tepes, second son of the head of the Tepes family. His fleet made contact with a Dragon Lord Scout fleet of eight ships commanded by Jester Scormas, the governor of Dawn City in Vyrdam, and a warrior leader of Melkharn Kingdom.

The Dragon Lord fleet caught the Imperial ships off guard; six frigates darted between the transport vessels while two heavy cruisers engaged the battleship of Ousmanri Tepes. A lucky shot crippled the battleship allowing Scormas to board and capture it along with Ousmanri, while the frigates destroyed eight Imperial frigates and transports. The two cruisers and one frigate that remained fled, but two ships were lost during their journey back to Vyrdam, and only a single cruiser limped into the port of Verdam a few days later.

VASSAL RACES
As they expanded their control over the centuries so the Dragon Lords subsumed various races into their dominion. These vassal races are governed by the Dragon Lords, which a localised Lord given control of the subsumed race. The Dragon Lords are limited in their numbers and in order to maintain their power they wield a deadly fist, with 100s or 1000s of inhabitants of a city put to the blade in order to maintain law and order.

The current fleets of Dragon Lord ships harassing the Old World races hail from the Melkharn region and are crewed by a race known as the Hakan, a humanoid people that have been under Dragon Lord control for over 800 years. All the Capital ships are commanded by Dragon Lords and a loyal group of Hakanian officers.

But the fleets of the other Dragon Lord regions are eager to join in with the battle against the Old World races, meaning new ships and new warriors are coming soon.
