INTRODUCTION The To’ok are accomplished miners, and it was over mining rights that the Telganth ambushed and slaughtered troops of the Lashan. Retribution was swift and the four Houses took sides against each other in order to strengthen their power. The war that followed was bloody and barbaric, limited as it was by the primitive weaponry of the To’ok, and their preferred tactics of raiding and duelling. The war was eventually halted by a cataclysm that changed the face of Gormoria. Earthquakes and volcanic eruptions that destroyed cities and collapsed mines led to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of To’oks. It took many years to recover from this Age of Dust of as it became known, and when they regained their strength, the Great Houses began to look upon each other again with suspicion. NEW DISCOVERIES - NEW ENEMIES The architectural design and weapons technology was far in advance of the swords and crossbows of the To’ok, and many of them died while examining their finds. Some of the Wise Ones travelled to the habitats, and were able to decipher some of the glowing parchment that had also been found. They slowly came to understand how to use the weapons and wagons within the habitats. The To’ok were soon arguing with each other over access to the galleries that led to these habitats. Harsh words were replaced by the even sharper bite of blade and the smell of flesh struck down by energy weapons. Small arguments flared into full blown military engagements and as the moons and suns of Gormoria rise and fall, so the sound of war in the tunnels grows ever noisier.
ENEMIES When troops of the Kerash recovered some dead Jakrats, they discovered that they were mechanical constructs. The Wise Ones could not decide whether the Jakrats had souls, or whether they were simply the tools of another race. The To’ok have since spotted smaller humanoids among the Jakrats who appear to lead them, but they are disguised by the clothes and helmets they wear. The To’ok are now matched against a relentless enemy in the confined spaces of the habitats and the wide open caverns of the deeps. The tunnels echo to the boom of explosions and the strange staccato speech of the Jakrats. The war has even spread to the surface, as the Jakrats raid the To’ok with impunity, causing their nobles to fear the sorcerous technology of the Jakrats.
THE DOMAIN OF LIGHT AND STEEL This is a Squad based gaming system with unit sizes varying from 12-16 troops engaging an enemy of similar proportions, but when you begin to add multiple squads to the tabletop with support weapons and vehicles, the concept of a squad becomes something that you use in an altogether larger military engagement. Our planned rules will be fast and furious and focus on the command and control of the troops on the battlefield – leaders play an important role in this game. Don’t worry though: shooting, stabbing and blowing things up are right at the core of this game. Whether it is a swarming mass of Jakrat Robots or an elite unit of To’ok Shanar Knights, you’ll get to kill lots of things! THE MINIATURES
THE RULES IN CONCLUSION We hope you enjoy The Domain of Light and Steel and that you join us on this exciting journey as a new world of warfare is opened up before your very eyes. To'ok Background PDF Why not take a look at our Online Store to see what miniature packs are currently available. Our initial focus was with sculpting the To'ok's, but we have also created one pack of four Jakrat Warriors that are now available to buy. We are currently working on more packs of Jakrat Warriors and more updates for the To'ok Empire. Once we have an equal number of blister packs available for both factions we will establish a common roll out plan where each faction gains new minis or vehicles/heavy weapon options at the same time. |
