Welcome to the Spartan Games Blog!

The Spartan Games Blog is the portal through which we will communicate major events, where our model makers will chat to you about their latest creations, and artists will share concept art. Additionally, if we need to tell you about new rules, this is the place we’ll do it.

We’re also going to be featuring a lot more short story items on our website, so we actively encourage you to share your fan related materials with us. Materials should be submitted to Steve Rhodes on steve@spartangames.co.uk. Please ensure all written pieces are between 600 – 4,500 words (the latter will be split into 2 parts) No submission will be used without prior contact with the writer.

Seek and Destroy

Seek and Destroy

The escalation of conflict in the Storm Zone has brought the Destroyer class ship for each faction into the fray. Their cruiser sized hulls are deceptive, as these vessels pack a punch far greater than their compact profiles may imply. Destroyers are a sniper style of vessel, boasting the ability to pump out powerful salvos at longer ranges. They do, however, lack the staying power of a frontline battle craft, leading them to operate in pairs for maximum effectiveness.

Where Eagles Dare

Where Eagles Dare

The Kingdom of Britannia Eagle Class War Rotor is a marvel of her majesty’s Flying Corp and the pride of any pilot that is granted the honour of captaining one. Years of engineering have gone into the development of this flying behemoth, and the utilisation of hybrid rotor driven propulsion and Sturginium-enhanced Anti-Gravitation generators, allows thousands of tonnes of British steel to glide into the sky above the battlefield, much to the horror of its foes. Designing this model was a lot of fun and one I’d been looking forward...

A Thunderous Shadow

A Thunderous Shadow

The dull pulsing engines of the Gewitterwolke Class Airship are often heard, but rarely do you see this airship emerge from the stormy skies until it is too late. With a crackling, thunderous shriek the Fore Tesla Coil unleashes hurt on any unfortunate enemy foolish enough to stray into the path of this aerial Armageddon. You may also want to reconsider your position should you be ill-fated enough to be darkened by its shadow; the arsenal of bombs this flyer carries ensure it leaves little standing in its wake.

Look To The Skies!

Look To The Skies!

If your aerial units have been clever (some would say lucky) enough to outmaneuver the squadrons of fighters, and avoid obliteration by the torrent of rockets launching from any supporting Inari Class Scout Gyros, you better be praying you don’t wander within range of the Tsukuyomi Class War Gyro. This guardian of the skies keeps a watchful eye over its fellow aerial companians with some brutal firepower. Its main turrets are specifically designed to track, and destroy anything unlucky enough to assume the sky is big enough to share....

Night Of The Condor

Night Of The Condor

This majestic Imperial Human Condor Class Flagship has speed, grace and punch. With its sails fully unfurled you can just imagine the Admiral of this vessel issuing orders as his highly trained gunners shatter the hull of another enemy ship. As you can see the Condor is the first Imperial vessel to use steam technology. When sailing at speed using its sails the vessel uses a Large Template, but when slowing to use its steam engines the Condor gains the benefit of increased manoeuvrability, and so uses a Medium Template.

Medusa’s Deadly Strike

They say the best is always worth waiting for, and we are confident that you will think that the Aquan Medusa Class Dreadnought has been worth the wait. This multi-part resin and pewter model is a formidable weapon of war. The Aquan Sebrutin has escalated its military fleets, identified the ongoing threats to its large borders as something that cannot continue. The Medusa spearheads its homeworld fleets which will be despatched to join the frontier fleets that are currently engaged in space battles with the Dindrezi, Directorate and...

As The Crow Flies

As The Crow Flies

The Crow is a interesting creature to observe, often linked to the recently deceased (or rather, their remains). In the case of the Elven Crow Class Destroyer, it is usually the cause of said demise. With the wind having no affect on it, there is little out there that can match the sheer speed of this naval predator, as it slices through the waves! One of the Crow Class Destroyers’ greatest features though is the starboard, port AND fore weapons! This allows your destroyers to get in amongst the action swiftly, cause maximum damage, and...

Behind That Grin…

With cranking cogs, firey cannons and huge rattling chains, the Orc's Warcroc Class Frigate has been reborn… and it’s not here to play nice. Ever wondered where the term ‘Crocodile Tears’ comes from? Some say it’s the last thing most seamen see before these whirring beasts come snarling through the mist, cannons blazing. A Squadron of these brings with it a very definite message… the moments to follow will be nothing less than a relentless barrage of bursting cannons and flaming wreckage at your enemies...

What Nightmares Are Made Of!

The Nightmare Class Flagship is the terror of the high seas, a mighty floating fortress full of undead warriors. The centre piece of its construction is a temple dedicated to the Bone Griffons revered totem, the Abyssal Griffon. Enemies of the Bone Griffons quake in fear at the appearance of such temple ships, because the dreaded influence of their priests’ magical aura can be felt at a great distance. They say the dead never truly rest; well it seems they’ve been exceedingly busy of late! Introducing the all new Phantom Class...

The Tervak’Nar Cometh…

The Tervak’Nar Cometh…

There are many ships across the Uncharted Seas that strike fear into the hearts of fleet admirals when they are seen on the horizon. There is a special curse among the Orc Raider clans for Imperial Human martyr vessels who rob hard won victories from even their fiercest captains. Dwarven engineers spit at assignment to piston ram cruisers, for their precision engineering requires endless maintenance in sweltering and dangerous conditions. There are ships which are known for good luck and safe travel and there are ships cursed for everything...
