Made of Steele

We had a lot of fun developing the iconic Federated States of America John Henry Class Robot, a particularly fun model to make. At the time it was discussed that a ‘walking’ version of him would be a fun model to design. As discussions grew Alliance Nation models it was agreed that the Dominion of Canada could have a walking robot, and so the Steele Class Assault Robot was born. Design wise it was essential that we distinguished the two robots in our own manner. Being an Allied Nation the Dominion of Canada does not necessarily have access to cutting edge propulsion technologies...

Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth SWZ3 Palnik Class Flame Tank The Alliance Nations and the way they fit into the game of Dystopian Wars were an opportunity to come up with some interesting designs outside the standard set that the major powers produce; niche models with niche roles that add a little more flavour to the battlefield. One of the first Alliance models produced was the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth’s Flame tank, a medium armoured model whose firepower is quite literally firepower. The Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth designs carry elements from the background of the PLC as a...

The White Army

The might of the Russian Coalition’s military has always been mainly concentrated on their land forces, and given the vast swathes of territory they control this is no surprise. Their armoured forces, therefore, had to represent the staggering force that the Russian Coalition could bring to bear against their enemies. While they may not be the most advanced nation in the world when it comes to their armoured technology, they are the most numerous. The mass-produced feel and the heavy lean towards the industrial structures of their ships was the best way, we felt, to give the land forces...

The White Navy

The Design Process With its massive landmass and vast population, the Russian Coalition is a lumbering behemoth. The resultant might it wields on the world’s stage is staggering indeed. Carrying this feel across to the models was the base point around which the general aesthetic was built, although there were other influences. The work of the traitor Markov is one of the fundamental moments in the Dystopian Wars’ escalating conflict, and so defection to his native Russia had a high degree of influence upon the design process. A keen eye can spot common aesthetic elements with the...

Not So Itsy…

When Lord Barnabas Draynes Sturgeon led his famous expedition to the fabled Vault, he took with him scientists and scholars from every nation, from every field of research and school of thought. Physicists, chemists, engineers, biologists, all of them taken to be a part of the utopia Sturgeon had envisioned, a future guided by reason and logic, free of nationalism and the petty squabbles of kingdoms and empires. Even after war broke out, and the realisation of that utopian vision halted for the time being, Sturgeon still remained faithful to the idea of a society guided by scholars. In...
