About Us
Spartan Games is a new company to the world of Wargaming that is built upon a backdrop of publishing and passion for all things military and gaming! Our goal is to deliver games that entertain the player and give scope for development over the coming years.
Our initial focus has been to develop two core game settings that will be expanded upon with several game concepts within each one. The first is The Uncharted Seas, which sets the scene for our fantasy world and the differing races that will exist within it. This fast paced naval action game will be used to form the bedrock from which other games follow, including a 28mm scale land based game. We currently have seven naval fleets available to buy.
Next up we have The Firestorm Universe, which brings together a war torn distant future that allows for futuristic armour and spaceships to do battle! Our first game offering in this genre is Firestorm Armada, a spaceship combat game where races such as the Terrans, Dindrenzi, Aquans and Sorylians do battle.
But Spartan Games is about more than just these two exciting game settings. Building upon our experience in print publishing we will bring out a series of high quality books. The first of these will be Death or Glory (DoG), an exciting set of skirmish wargame rules that will allow a gamer to play multiple periods of conflict using one set of common mechanics. DoG will arrive as a full colour 96 page core rulebook and be supported by a number of ‘Personality Books’ that will give the rules a flavour of the period the gamer is playing.
The first of these personality books will cover the Greek period and cater for historical, mythical and legendary warriors. Think about great warriors like Leonidas, Perseus, Jason, Hector, Achilles - the list goes on – and you will get the point! The world of Greece and its heroes, legends and fabled monsters makes for a stunning and exciting backdrop for any gaming system. We couldn’t resist making a DoG supplement that brought these legends and myths to life.
We will also develop other miniature ranges and the first of these is called Heroes of Myth and Legend. Working in conjunction with DoG and its Greek book (but not exclusive to these books!) this range will feature miniatures differing scales. The first theme of minis within this range is Jason and the Argonauts and features superb 40mm minis.
As we mentioned earlier The Uncharted Seas is not just a fantasy naval game, it is the setting for a whole world of adventure. We have also designed a range of exciting 28mm miniatures for this game. As each race arrives, so a range of miniatures will, in most instances, arrive after it. We have plans to bring out the first five races (Thaniras Elves, Dragon Lords, Orc Raiders, Imperial Humans and Iron Dwarves) in 2009.
